GIF Afterdark

Change how the gallery is arranged and lit. Jump between GIFs, switch the layout between Grid, Spotlight and Stack, invert or recolour everything, go fullscreen, or start the screensaver — then Reset to return to the default look.

Control motion across the gallery. Play or pause the selected GIF, start and stop every GIF at once, or slow the whole wall — or just the selected card — down to a crawl to study each frame.

Keep your work and bring it back later. Save the whole page to the cloud under a username (Turso) or to a JSON file, stash pages and single GIFs in this browser to reopen by name, or save the selected card as an artwork.

Work fully offline across your LAN — no server needed for Chrome or Edge: on the computer that holds the shared folder, and on every client that can already reach it, type the shared-folder path, connect to it once, then save and load whole pages — or single GIFs — straight into that shared folder.

On any other browser (Firefox, Safari…) folder access isn't available — but if that shared folder is served as a web address, it behaves just like a website. Type that address and load a page or GIF from it over the network. Adding new saves still needs Chrome/Edge above, or use Save to File and drop the file into the shared folder.

Share and discover GIFs with others. Tick Share to community when saving to publish a GIF, browse the ones you've saved under your username, or explore the shared library everyone contributes to and pull favourites into your gallery.

Work on individual GIFs. Load your own from a file — animated GIFs or plain images (PNG, JPEG, WebP…), which come in as single-frame GIFs — then download, duplicate, rename or delete the selected card, restack it forward and back to change what overlaps what, or invert just that one GIF's colours.

Choreograph your GIFs instead of playing them all at once. Add a step for each GIF, then choose when it plays — right away, after the previous step, only once another GIF has finished playing, after a delay, or when a target GIF is dragged close to it. Each step can also nudge its GIF: rotate it or shift it a set distance relative to where it already is. Press Play Sequence to run the whole show.
